ZDHC Continues to Advance Chemical Management, Textile Supply Chain Green Compliance Accelerates

ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals), an organization committed to driving zero discharge of hazardous chemicals in the textile, apparel, leather, and footwear industries, has recently made continued progress in chemical sustainability management.

During the 25th China International Dye Industry Exhibition held in Shanghai in April 2026, the ZDHC Solutions Roadshow 2026 seminar was held concurrently. A ZDHC East Asia Senior Manager introduced the organization's latest developments and industry trends, emphasizing that ZDHC is empowering the global supply chain to achieve higher transparency, consistency, and collaboration through unified standards, platforms, and tools.

In terms of technical certification, international testing and certification body SGS issued the first "No PFAS Detected" Green Mark certificate to Transfar Zhilian during the exhibition, marking a significant breakthrough in fluorine-free water repellent products meeting stringent environmental requirements. In addition, Intertek's Shanghai Textile and Footwear Laboratory officially obtained ZDHC Wastewater and Sludge Guidelines V2 accreditation, becoming a third-party institution capable of fully conducting new standard testing and compliance services.

Notably, ZDHC and The Microfibre Consortium have launched the second phase of joint research, planning to conduct wastewater testing at 15 textile manufacturing facilities worldwide to verify whether total suspended solids (TSS) can serve as a reliable proxy indicator for fiber fragment concentrations. The research will cover various raw material types including polyester, cotton, and nylon, as well as key processes such as denim production and washing, aiming to provide the industry with a scalable monitoring tool for fiber fragments.

Industry insiders believe that with the continuous upgrading of ZDHC standards and the improvement of third-party certification systems, chemical compliance management in the textile supply chain is moving from "initiative" to "mandatory requirement," driving the industry toward a more responsible and sustainable future.
